Speed Trailer Reporting

Speed TrailerThe Big Lake Police Department acquired its ATS 5 Speed Trailer in 2024 utilizing the department's DWI Forfeiture Funds. Its compact size and maneuverability make it easy to transport and set up at various locations. It is equipped with a large Speed Alert Sign and flashing red and blue strobes which effectively slows speeding drivers, calms traffic, and communicates important messages to drivers and pedestrians with high visibility.

The Big Lake Police Department ATS 5 Speed Trailer communicates utilizing TraffiCloud. TraffiCloud is a subscription-based platform the Big Lake Police Department utilizes to configure settings relevant to particular locations and speed zones. In addition, TraffiCloud retains data through the platform which can produce reports for the public and the department to view its effectiveness. Through TraffiCloud, the department is able to set sign display options, create messages, set speeds, issue alerts, and review reported data.

The department has made the ATS 5 Speed Trailer available to the public through a registration process. Residents who have concerns about speeding motorists or residential traffic safety concerns in their neighborhoods are able to register the trailer at their desired location up to 1-week. To request the ATS 5 Speed Trailer at your desired location, please email the police department by clicking here.

All requests will be evaluated independently. Please include details regarding the speed problem, specific area you would like it to be set up, and which direction of travel the unit should be set up facing. These details will be evaluated by the department and the set-up will be configured based on safety measures determined by the Big Lake Police Department.

The ATS 5 Speed Trailer will only be operational and deployed during the Spring-Summer-Fall months.
